Ama Niyangoda
Ama Niyangoda is a passionate and accomplished Western Music educator with a strong academic background and diverse experience in both teaching and leadership. She holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Performing Arts (Western Music) from the University of Kelaniya, graduating with a Second-Class Upper Division.
With experience teaching students from primary level to Advanced Level, Ama specializes in vocal training, piano performance, and Western music theory. She has served as Assistant Western Music Teacher at Hillwood College and currently teaches Primary Music at Gateway College, where she inspires young learners to explore and appreciate music from an early age.
Beyond the classroom, Ama has demonstrated outstanding leadership as the Local Committee President of AIESEC in Colombo North and National Head of Outgoing Internships for AIESEC in Sri Lanka. Her professional experience also extends into the music industry, having worked as a Music Copyright Associate at Orfium Sri Lanka.
Ama is deeply committed to nurturing creativity, discipline, and confidence in every student. Her teaching philosophy integrates strong theoretical foundations with practical performance skills, enabling students to grow not only as technically skilled musicians but also as expressive, confident individuals.
